Bankruptcy Lawyer Serving Kansas City
Wage garnishment occurs when money is deducted from your salary to pay your debts. Your bank accounts can also be garnished. You can stop garnishment through a bankruptcy filing.
At Sypher Law Group, L.L.C., we use the bankruptcy laws to stop garnishment and help our clients get a new financial start.
Call 913-451-8833 for a free consultation. You do not have to live under the threat of garnishment and creditor harassment.
Garnishment of Wages
A creditor must file and win a collection lawsuit in order to take a portion of your wages directly from you. The maximum amount of your wages that can be garnished is generally limited to 25 percent of your net wages. There are some exceptions, and your attorney can discuss those with you. Most people cannot afford to lose 25 percent of their paycheck. Filing for Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy may be a better option. At Sypher Law Group, L.L.C., we have helped hundreds of people obtain debt relief and stop garnishment through bankruptcy filings. We can do the same for you.
We Can Stop Garnishment Immediately
It is better to start the bankruptcy process before your wages are garnished. But, many people wait to meet with an attorney after the garnishment is in place. The good news is that once we file bankruptcy for you, all garnishment actions and the threat of garnishment stops immediately, as does the threat of foreclosure and repossession. After your case is filed any funds garnished from your paycheck or bank account must be refunded to you immediately, or your attorney can take legal action on your behalf. Your next paycheck will be larger and you will be on the road to a new financial future — with fewer or no debts and the breathing room you need to re-organize your financial life and make a new start.
